How To Buy Tickets?

The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris are set to be an exciting sporting event, and the organizing committee has already started selling tickets to nearly 10 million spectator spots. If you’re interested in attending, it’s important to know that the official platform for purchasing tickets is the Paris 2024 ticketing website. Be cautious of unauthorized websites selling tickets, as they may be canceled.

The first phase of ticket sales, which offered 3.25 million tickets, ended in March. However, if you missed out, there’s still an opportunity to participate in the second phase of ticket sales. The deadline for this phase is April 20 at 6 p.m. Central European Time. After May 9, successful entrants will receive an email notification and a 48-hour window to purchase tickets for individual sporting events and the opening and closing ceremonies. For more details, refer to the comprehensive ticketing guide on the website.

With over 750 events during the 2024 Summer Olympics, it’s a good idea to explore the Paris 2024 calendar, seating plans, and ticket prices before booking. Prices will vary based on the type of event and seating category. For instance, tickets for handball competitions range from 24 to 190 euros, while tickets for track and field (also known as “athletics”) range from €24 to €980. Keep in mind that popular events may sell out quickly.

When purchasing tickets, each registered account is allowed a maximum of 30 tickets, with a limit of six tickets per event. However, certain events may have a four-ticket maximum per account. Tickets for the Paralympic Games will be available for sale on the Paris 2024 website in the fall. Options will include single tickets and day passes.

Important Dates To Remember

On July 26, 2024, the Summer Olympics will start in Paris, and the Paralympic Games will take place shortly after that. The city of Paris will be at the center of the action for almost a month, from July 26 to August 11, hosting over 300 competitions.

Before the official start of the Games, there will be various test events to ensure everything is prepared. For example, in July 2023, a sailing test event in Marseilles will be conducted to evaluate the infrastructure and racing areas. It will be followed by a triathlon test event in Paris in August 2023, where athletes will compete in different races and relay events.

Preparations for the upcoming French youth golf championships in July 2023 are in full swing as organizers gear up to test the Olympic configuration of the Golf National de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.  In August 2023, the World Rowing Under 19 Championship will be held in Vaires-sur-Marne stadium, featuring canoeing and rowing events. The Open Water Swimming World Cup and Archery World Cup will also be part of the test events.

As the Games draw closer, the enthusiasm grows. Volunteers will receive their assignments between September and the year’s end, and the Paralympic Games tickets will go on sale in October 2023.

In April 2024, there will be test competitions at the Châteauroux national shooting center, and the final venue to be completed, the Saint-Denis Olympic Aquatic Centre, will host targeted events in artistic swimming, diving, and water polo from April to May 2024.

The Olympic flame will make its way to France in May 2024, with Marseilles being the first city to welcome it. On July 14 2024, the flame will arrive in Paris, coinciding with the Bastille Day national holiday, after traveling through more than 60 French departments.

The sporting events will begin before the opening ceremony, with rugby 7s, soccer matches, and handball starting in late July 2024. Finally, on July 26, 2024, the grand Olympic Games opening ceremony will occur in Paris. Unlike previous editions, this ceremony will be organized outside of a stadium. The event will start at 8:24 pm as boats carrying athlete delegations sail down the Seine River from Pont d’Austerlitz to the iconic Eiffel Tower.

The Games will conclude on August 11, 2024, with a closing ceremony at the Stade de France. However, it won’t be the end of the Olympic sequence, as the Paralympic Games will begin 17 days later, on August 28 2024, with a captivating open-air ceremony between the Champs-Élysées and Place de la Concorde.

After 11 days of intense competition, the Paralympic Games will close on September 8, 2024, marking the end of Paris’s Olympic summer. It will be a memorable time filled with extraordinary athletic performances and the celebration of human achievement.
