Standing strong: France’s call to combat anti-semitism

FRANCE-Right now, anti-Semitism is on the rise in France and is even being stoked by outsiders. Despite the opinion that racism does not exist on a big scale in France, some analysts have considered racism a serious societal issue in French society.

Why Combat Anti-Semitism in France?

A wave of anti-Semitic pogroms, the most notable of which occurred in Kishinev, Russia, swept over Eastern Europe and Latin America around the start of the 20th century. Easter 1903 saw the culmination of a toxic anti-Jewish campaign when groups of men, ten to twenty strong, charged through the city’s Jewish neighborhoods brandishing knives and hatchets. They massacred every Jew and raped every woman they came across as they moved from block to block and house to house.

They left a trail of devastation that would be heard throughout the globe over the course of the following two days, resulting in the deaths of 49 Jews, thousands of injuries, an unknown number of rapes, and more than 1,500 damaged homes. The inaction of thousands of Jewish men in the face of a very small number of peasants disturbed some outside observers even more about the occurrence. For a very long time, France was a secular state . State secularism was founded by the French statute on the separation of churches and state in 1905. The 1905 law forbids any non-neutral signs (political or religious) on the part of anyone employed by the state, particularly those in the civil service, which includes teachers and other staff members in schools.

How to unite France against Anti-Semitism?

Since the conflict started on October 7, there have been 1,247 anti-Semitic incidents, according to the interior minister, nearly three times as many as there were in 2022. Under heavy security, a march in the French capital was joined by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne, former Presidents Nicolas Sarkozy and Francois Holland, members of several left-leaning parties, and conservatives and centrists from President Emmanuel Macron’s party. Despite not being there, Macron backed the demonstration and urged people to take a stand against the intolerable resurgence of unbridled antisemitism.

Leader of the far-left France Unbowed party, Jean-Luc Melenchon, refrained from attending the march as well, stating that it would be a gathering of “friends of unconditional support for the massacre” in Gaza. Given the anti-Semitic foundations of Marine Le Pen’s party, he also questioned her attendance. Her father, who was found guilty of Holocaust denial, formed the party. Officials from the Interior Ministry estimated that 182,000 people nationwide had participated in the Paris March, while police only reported 105,000. Around 70 events were held all around the nation, including the main cities of Lyon, Nice, and Strasbourg.

Effective Educational Initiatives?

According to Linkedin, By portraying Israel as an oppressor that all progressives must oppose, radical Islamists have been able to connect their hatred of Israel which they have presented as their sincere compassion for the Palestinian cause with the concept of intersectionality. By doing this, they attempt to infiltrate the most heinous antisemitic concepts into the public conversation.

As per aljazeera, With over 500,000 Jews, France has the highest Jewish population in all of Europe. According to France’s top rabbi Haim Korsia, “everyone should feel like it’s their business” to battle anti-Jewish sentiment on radio station Radio J. Large Jewish and Muslim communities reside in the French capital, where tensions have been building since the war started a month ago when the militant group Hamas launched a stunning offensive on Israel that resulted in the deaths of around 1,200 people and the capture of about 240 others. Israel responded by starting a bombardment on the crowded Gaza Strip, which has resulted in at least 11,000 deaths to date.

Call to action: Boycott Pairs Olympics 2024?

Boycott Pairs Olympics 2024 is necessary due to public security threats and fans which will come from other countries. The prices of tickets are going to be very high. Prosecutors in Paris are looking into a number of recent anti-Semitic incidents, including an event on October 31 where dozens of Stars of David were daubed on buildings in the city and surrounds. Paris demanded an immediate end to hostilities, the march ensued, coinciding with Macron’s recent alignment with those advocating for an end to Israel’s assault on Gaza. Pairs is going towards racism issues nowadays. This is the reason that everyone should boycott the Paris Olympic 2024.
